Seasonal trend lovers are not new to gingerbread nails; one can say it has become a must in the series of festive queries. The aesthetic of the nails has always been dominated by the rich and soothing tones of the spiced season, pared-down even further to serene white hues. But basically, the term is also associated with something very unlike fashion: nail health. So let me explain how gingerbread nails can be both fun and caring.
What Colors Are Used for Gingerbread Nails?
My initial approach to gingerbread nails was through colors that reminded me of cookies just baked.
Warm brown, beige with a hint of milk, plus some touches of white icing summed up the color story of my first gingerbread nails.
The various shades of brown give the appearance of gingerbread cookies.
Using white polish will make your nails look like they have been decorated with icing.
Moreover, copper or gold can be used to add a celebratory twinkle to the nails.
Furthermore, red and white candy canes are the two friends most likely to be invited to the party if the idea was your Christmas-themed nails. In this way, the colors could become equally attractive and beautiful whether you prefer a bold or subtle look.
What Nail Shape Is Best for Gingerbread Nails?
Form really matters. I must confess that for me, the almond-shape nails exactly fit the bill because of the elongated design that allows for more decorative “icing” lines.
The almond and oval nails shapes are fabulous for sophisticated gingerbread designs.
Moreover, a square shape is a simple and a cute cookie-like one.
On the other hand, if you are into sparkles and intricate art, coffin would be the best choice for you.
Shaped that reflects personality is the one you should go for. I on the other hand keep mine oval because typing on the keyboard is my daily routine and it is very comfortable for me.
What Causes Gingerbread Nails?
Gingerbread nails, here, mean a complete opposite of what we have been talking about, i.e., nail style. Fungal infections might be the reason if your nails turned dark, thickened, and brittle.
Causes include:
Moisture trapped under the nail.
Not drying feet or hands properly.
Using nail tools which are not cleaned but are shared with others.
Tight shoes worn for a long time.
Once it happened to me after a gym visit. I didn’t change my socks quickly, and bam—nail discoloration appeared.
How to get rid of gingerbread nail fungus?
Don’t panic if you are facing this problem. Simple steps should be your beginning:
1. Keep nails short and trimmed. Short nails reduce the propagation of fungus.
2. Put on antifungal just as doctors recommend. Pharmacies carry them inside.
3. Do not share the cutting and filing tools with others. Use your personal kit only.
4. Wear only breathable socks. Cotton is the most suitable.
5. Consult your doctor if the problem hasn’t gone a way in a few weeks.
Always remember that consistency is the main thing. I treated mine daily, and it was getting better slowly.
Do Gingerbread Nails Have a Home Remedy?
Indeed, some natural remedies can help, but they require a long time. I tried tea tree oil drops on my nail, and discoloration reduced.
The other remedies to stop nail fungus include:
Vinegar water soak for nails for 10 minutes.
Application of coconut oil on nails to prevent them from drying.
Use of baking soda paste for the purpose of killing the fungus.
If, however, it continues to spread, you shouldn’t delay in seeking medical help. It is safer and faster.
My Point of View of Gingerbread Nails
The first thing I enjoyed about this term was the double meaning. In one way, gingerbread nails are amusing, holiday-themed, and classy. On the other, it is a cue to take care of our nail health.
To be honest, I really liked the warm brown shades that December’s month represented on my nails. It makes me think of the snug feeling of having hot chocolate at the fire. But at the same time, I have to say that I am very careful with the cleanliness aspect, particularly after my nail fungus situation.
So, gingerbread nails are a thing to be noticed no matter if you love fashion or need some healing. Decorate them with icing-like designs, or simply pamper them with some care. Your nails will definitely be transformed into beautiful and healthy ones.
